A breast lift, also called a breast lift, or mastopexy, is an aesthetic operation performed when the breast loses its tone for various reasons and the breast tissue SAG along with the nipple.

  • Progression of age
  • Genetic causes
  • Pregnancy
  • Giving milk
  • Extreme weight changes

the causes of the breast can either be sagging only in the milk glands, or it can be sagging along with the nipple. Sometimes the nipple is where it should be normal, and we call glandular ptosis, a condition in which the breast tissue sagges, in which case the breast also has a serious sagging and needs to be erect.

In breast lift operations, it is inevitable that some scars will form in the breast to move the lower level of the nipple and breast tissue to where it should be, and to get rid of the excess breast tissue and skin.

Depending on the method to be applied, these scars can only be vertical and horizontal scars around the nipple, or around the nipple and downwards around the nipple, or downwards around the nipple called the reverse T.

A method performed only with a watch around the nipple is called periareolar breast lift surgery. In my clinical experience, I do not prefer this type of shrinkage because the shape of the breast can be like a bag with a shrunken mouth. I prefer methods made with a single vertical trace or reverse t around the nipple and at the bottom. As a result, the breast can be shaped better. If the breast is not too large, we either do not make the horizontal incision at the bottom or keep it too short. If the breast is too large and the reduction is too much, I add a horizontal incision at the bottom. Because I am trying to create the most beautiful state that the breast can be in the first time, rather than tire my patient twice, since it is necessary to cut again within 6 months in patients who have applied the method of sewing by shrinking the underlying skin without adding it. The marks fade over time and become less pronounced. Because this horizontal incision remains under the breast, this is the scar that least bothers the patient. More detailed information about the tracks can be found in my blog posts.

During breast lift, some breast is also removed. If up to 300 g of tissue is usually taken per breast, it is called breast lift surgery, and if more than 300 g of tissue is taken, it is also called breast reduction surgery.

The most important issue I pay attention to in breast lift and breast reduction operations is that the created breast is the most natural-looking and the most resistant to time. For this reason, it is necessary to protect the tissues in the upper part of the breast and support this area with breast tissue. After surgery, the patient should also have a cleavage appearance that he can be satisfied with.
