We use our face, which is our most important communication tool, a lot in our daily lives. The anatomy of the face is also in such a way as to actually overcome this heavy task. In order to form our facial expressions, the structures are too thin and nervous, that is, inervation, too much. In this way, the thinnest muscles can take the nerve separately and work independently. Under this heavy workload, our face is one of the most affected places against time. Another aspect is that the aging effects that occur on our face, where we constantly look in front of the mirror and are under constant scrutiny from the opposite side, attract attention earlier.
The eye and around the eye are among the places most affected by these aging effects. My comments about this part can be found in the eye aesthetics section.
The lower part of the eye, the Middle face and the mouth are places where we experience a lot of the feeling of aging in the lower face. With the sagging of the Middle face, which is the edges of the nose and under the eyes, the grooves that extend from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth, which we call the nasolabial grooves, deepen. Bagging under the eye, grooves (tear through deformity), pillow formations (malar festoon) are seen in the cheekbones. Problems in this area can be corrected with an operation called a medium face lift. If we want to stretch the cheekbone area, we need to make an incision from the temple area. If we’re only going to do an intervention in the Middle face, we can do it endoscopically.
I’m going to talk about a face lift made by making incisions around the ear, which we call a classic face lift.
Facelift surgery was actually performed decades ago, but it is more common because it has improved recently. I prefer a method that effectively stretches the sagging parts of the face without lifting too much of the skin, which we call a composite face lift. In this way, I almost never encounter circulation problems on the skin and it is easier for my patient after surgery. After lifting the skin of the face up to a certain distance, it is entered under the supporting tissue of the face using potential cavities located on the face. With permanent stitches, we stretch the face to the side, moving it in a more vertical direction without causing it to appear to have entered the wind tunnel, returning the tissues that have slipped down to where they should be. In terms of clinical results, the duration of action is also greater.
In fact, there is some confusion about the term. Face lifts can be divided into mini and full face lifts. I don’t agree with the term Mini, because in a classic full face lift, the skin of the face is lifted to the corner of the mouth and the support tissue under the skin is stretched separately. In a Mini face lift, the skin is removed in a very small amount with an incision in front of the ear, and stitches that stretch into the facial support tissue are placed on it, and the skin spreads. But in my wool, we can provide as much or more stretching effect as the classic method with as little as a mini incision, since the skin is removed and entered into deep tissues as a mini stretching.
In my own face lifts, the Middle face and lower face are easily treated, while the brow area and forehead area can be added to the face lift if desired.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can every area of our face be treated with a face lift?
With face lift surgery, fine wrinkles on the face cannot be teadavi. The thinning and wear caused by aging in the structure of the face cannot be corrected. So a face lift is not more supportive of the structure of the skin and removing fine wrinkles. BBL, mesotherapy or peeling, which we call facial rejuvenation, can be applied to support the structure of the face. Stretching to the middle part of the face has no effect. Botox is my first choice in the eyebrows area. After that, eyebrow lifting or forehead lifting can be considered.
How will my face look next with a face lift?
I’m trying not to feel like I’ve entered a wind tunnel that is overly stretched sideways with a face lift, disrupting the structure of the mouth. In fact, what we’re doing is pulling tissue that has shifted downwards by the effect of gravity to where it’s supposed to be. The stretching movement is more vertical, that is, in the vertical direction.
Will my neck be affected by a face lift?
Yes, with a face lift, we can also create a pronounced state of well-being in the neck. By hanging the sagging image of the neck on the back side of the chin under the ear, we can achieve a noticeable improvement in the neck by hanging the muscle called platysma in the neck. Liposuction, which I call the ironing method for lubrication under the chin and other areas of the neck, effectively provides thinning and stretching. I can prefer the process of plike the muscles in the neck by entering under the jaw for very heavily deformed necks, but an important part is that in my patient, we can achieve the healing we want in the neck area without using this incision under the tip of the jaw.
Where will I watch it with a face lift?
Facial stretch marks vary depending on the person. If there is not much skin relaxation, an incision is made only in front of the ear and in the favorite part. If there is too much relaxation around the eye, we can move around the incision favorite and follow the hair line to the temples. We can advance the incision to spread the excess skin behind the ear.
