The fact that the breasts are large poses many problems for patients, both physiological and psychological. Large breasts can even cause posture disorders in the bones of the spine in the lady. Because the lower parts of the breasts are folded, they always remain sweaty, and there may be excessive itching, redness. It also causes many complaints, such as pain in the shoulders, noticeable bra marks, neck pain, and posture disorders.

Breast reduction surgery can get rid of this excess breast tissue and eventually create a more aesthetic-looking breast. Because of the large breast weight, almost all of them also have sagging.

In breast reduction operations, it is inevitable that some scars will form in the breast to move the lower level of the nipple to the place where it should be, and to get rid of excess breast tissue.

Depending on the method to be applied, these scars can only be vertical around the nipple, or around the nipple and in the form of a trace that extends below the breast, or downward around the nipple called an inverted T, and horizontal marks under the breast.

Breast reduction surgery is the most common type of breast reduction surgery. In my clinical experience, I do not prefer this type of shrinkage because the shape of the breast can be like a bag with a shrunken mouth. I prefer methods made with a single vertical trace or reverse t around the nipple and at the bottom. As a result, the breast can be shaped better. If the breast is not too large, we either do not make the horizontal incision at the bottom or keep it too short. If the breast is too large and the reduction is too much, I add a horizontal incision at the bottom. Because I am trying to create the most beautiful state that the breast can be in the first time, rather than tire my patient twice, since it is necessary to cut again within 6 months in patients who have applied the method of sewing by shrinking the underlying skin without adding it. The marks fade over time and become less pronounced. Because this horizontal incision remains under the breast, this is the scar that least bothers the patient. More detailed information about the tracks can be found in my blog posts.

Surgery

Breast reduction surgery is an operation that lasts up to 2-3 hours under general anesthesia.

After the necessary preparations are made before the operation, drawings are made that rehearse the operation according to the method that will be applied before the operation. This stage is very important. Because the work to be done during the operation will be applied according to these drawings. Here, drawings are made by taking the opinions of the patient.

After the operation is performed according to these drawings, the incision lines are carefully sutured to form the least marks and then closed with a dressing. Wearing a corset similar to an athlete’s bra, the operation is terminated.

After surgery, the patient is given strong narcotic painkillers intravenously, ensuring that he passes comfortably after surgery.

The corset is worn for about 3 weeks, and in the meantime, the patient is allowed to take a bath within 3-5 days as soon as possible. Long walks can be done after 10 days, while short walks are allowed at the exit of the patient’s surgery. Heavy sports can be started within 4 weeks and struggling sports can be started after 2 months.

At first, The Shape of the breast is more tense, edematous and the upper part looks fuller, while over time it takes the shape of the breast better for up to 6 months.
